Remote.com alternatives: a Philippine example
Remote’s $599 starting price matches Deel’s list price, so the Philippine numbers match our Deel pricing breakdown. A hire on ₱35,000 a month costs ₱42,522 before any provider fee: salary, ₱4,605 in employer SSS, PhilHealth and Pag-IBIG, and ₱2,917 of 13th-month accrual.
At ₱56.83 per dollar, an assumption we use on every page in this series, Remote’s $599 is about ₱34,040 a month and the total ₱76,562. With the startup rate the fee drops to about ₱28,934 and the total to ₱71,456. Among Remote.com alternatives, Asiacruit’s starting price of $199 is about ₱11,309 and the total ₱53,831, which is roughly ₱17,600 a month below Remote even after the startup discount. Where Remote.com is the better fit
Remote is a good choice when your hiring is wide, and for those teams Remote.com alternatives may not be needed. EOR covers 90+ countries and contractor products cover 190+. It sells contractors in three tiers, from a basic contract to full Contractor of Record cover, and its $29 Global Payroll product helps if you later open your own entity. The startup rate and the absence of a platform fee also help early-stage teams.
Remote.com alternatives: when a regional EOR costs less
The picture changes when your hires are in the Philippines, Indonesia or India. You pay for countries you do not use, and your support team is not in those markets every day. A regional provider has registered entities in all three and a lower starting fee. Our guide to EOR vs setting up a subsidiary shows when your own entity beats both.
Questions to ask before choosing Remote.com alternatives
- How much is the refundable reserve per employee, and when is it returned?
- Which FX rate applies to my payroll currency, and who sets it?
- What are the termination fees and the notice terms?
- What is the contract length, and does the startup rate end at 12 months?
- What do visa support and benefits cost?
- Who answers my questions on payroll day, and in which hours?
What to check in the Philippines, Indonesia and India
Local rules apply whichever provider you choose. In the Philippines, 13th-month pay is due by December 24 and employer SSS, PhilHealth and Pag-IBIG add roughly 10% to 14% to salary. In Indonesia, THR is mandatory and BPJS adds a similar share. In India, employer EPF is 12%, ESI is 3.25% for eligible staff and gratuity accrues after the qualifying period. See our pages on the Philippines, Indonesia and India.
Official sources for the country notes: SSS, PhilHealth, Pag-IBIG Fund, BPJS Ketenagakerjaan, EPFO and ESIC. Confirm current rates with each agency.
